The Coastal Carolina HTC Center is an impressive structure. I have been to three mens basketball games this year and I am concerned about the lack of handicapped parking at the center.
Entering the front of the building there are approximately 10 handicapped spaces. On game night, barricades prevent entrance to the parking area and when the attendants are told we have handicapped parking they tell us there are no more left. They have been good enough to allow me to enter and drop my wife off in front of the building and then leave. In doing so I have noticed about 100 or more spaces that are empty and I assume “reserved” for “important” individuals. Also upon leaving the game I see many spaces unused.
The general admissions parking is quite a distance from the center and also fills up quickly. I would ask the powers that be to set aside at least 20 more spaces on game night for handicapped use. Personally I also believe the entire parking area at the center should be available on a first come basis.
