Rice statement naive, irresponsible

By Dave Reid

Re Oct. 18 article on the 7th Congressional District debate

The article quoted Rice as saying he would shatter government regulations and shrink government itself.

To me this statement is ridiculous. If he is fortunate to win the seat how does he plan to do these things? I am under the impression a rookie in Washington does not have any pull or the power to influence a vote.

Which government regulations is he going to shatter and how does he plan to shrink government? If the statement in The Sun News is accurate it is irresponsible.

South Carolina’s disturbing schools law that lets police arrest students who talk back to teachers or otherwise ‘act in an obnoxious manner’ could be repealed. A House committee votes Tuesday on a bill to limit the law to adults.
