Re Oct. 25 news article on back gate construction
This work appears to have been going on forever and now will be completed in 2014. My opinion is simple: Why was this project even started, no investing $115 million of the taxpayers’ money and causing four years of inconvenience.
I drive that route all the time and the only problem was traffic at specific hours backing up on U.S. 17 Bypass South. That could have been easily and cheaply rectified by extending and widening the center divider into a two lane left turn into Farrow Parkway. This would have totally solved the problem and probably would have cost less than $1 million to complete and would now be a done deal. This project is only comparable to the Aynor Bridge to nowhere.
