On Wednesday, Oct. 24, the fifth Myrtle Beach Honor Flight will depart for Washington carrying 90 area World War II veterans. The outstanding success of these flights, which commenced in the fall of 2010, has been the result of a small group of dedicated volunteers who labor countless hours fund raising, recruiting veterans and organizing every element of each journey.
The leaders of this group of volunteers are Walter and Angela Kollet of Pawleys Island. They deserve the heartfelt thanks of the entire Grand Strand for their tireless efforts on behalf of our World War II veterans.
The writer, a World War II veteran, lives in Conway.
