As an observer on the streets of Charlotte, N.C., last week; I was extremely proud of the outreach work of the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce. My portion of the 1 percent tax was very well spent to advertise the multifaceted piece of paradise in which some of us are blessed to live and work. I can't believe that any of the 100,000 or so people who roamed the streets for a week or so missed the Myrtle Beach message.
Brad, Kathy, Nora and a host of other staff were omnipresent with the items bearing Myrtle Beach, the sand castle features including a beach scene, and the Black Finn Cafe for the 15,000 media.
The number of blips of Myrtle Beach, that advertisers like to count, had to be in the millions. Nobody with a smartphone or camera left town without a picture of Myrtle Beach . The convention was a booming success on the international stage so the presence of Myrtle Beach on that scene was exemplary of a very savvy promotional team in action, off site from their home base. As they say, you can't buy that kind of positive exposure, but we got it for pennies on the dollar. A job very well done.
