It is a sad thing that the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce has the ability to get their hands on so much money from that penny sales tax that they can go and spend $30,000 on a sand sculpture for the Democratic convention.
In the first place if they wanted to spend the $30,000, it should have come from all personal donations. The second thing is, who authorized the spending of the money? This was a very bad idea, and whoever was responsible for the authorization of this expenditure should be held personally responsible for the money, and for its return. I further suggest that the chamber of commerce be held responsible for how each and every dollar is being spent to the general public.
I was outraged when I read the article saying that they spent this money. The chamber of commerce is supposed to represent all of the general public, and not just one party in particular .I can just imagine how much other of the money is wasted on things like this. If this is how they are spending this money, then they shouldn’t be getting any of it to waste.
