For Everett Golson to start at quarterback for Notre Dame is no small accomplishment.
Notre Dame probably has the most powerful recruiting system in the U.S. If they want a player they usually get him. They did miss Mike Ditka, who had 300 scholarship offers and a 20-inch neck, out of High School. The number of high school quarterbacks on their recruiting list each year has to be mind boggling.
They have a vast church connection and everyone is pushing for Notre Dame football. They have the biggest following in the country. It's like they are the home team at every game. I’ve been to a Pitt-Notre Dame football game in Pittsburgh and I couldn’t figure out why everyone in the stadium was rooting for Notre Dame. Congratulations, Mr. Golson.
