Having recently moved here from Massachusetts, one thing bothers me about Project Blue. In Massachusetts, a similar project that involved a solar panel company was given huge tax incentives in exchange for bringing jobs to the area. The only problem was that they went bankrupt in about a year, the jobs were gone and the state was out a huge amount of up-front money that they gave the company to bring the company to the state. There were no restrictions on the company and they just walked away from the business and Massachusetts was left with a big loss.
Is there any commitment by the company to protect Myrtle Beach from having this happen to them? The jobs are great, but it is a lot of incentives and it would be good to know that they just can't walk away if they feel like it. Just a thought.
