Re Aug. 5 column by Rep. Alan Clemmons, “The time is right for I-73”
Having lived in the beach area for the past 20 years, I have watched the traffic double several times over. Where can we put another 1 million additional tourists, as this study suggests bringing in?
Consider alternative work: From U.S. 74, add double lanes from Highway 38 into the existing lanes of Bennettsville, then on to the beach, then widen Glenns Bay Road as promised 10 years ago. We allowed building without cross cuts to accommodate traffic in the past; we cannot continue to add traffic without drastic adjustments.
The writer lives in Garden City Beach.
