Letters to the Editor

A pearl of wisdom from WWII

I recently came across a pearl of wisdom that supposedly was printed in a World War II primary flight training manual. This instruction described the control movements for recovery from each maneuver:

“If the airplane doesn’t recover, try moving the controls in the opposite direction.”

One can only hope that our elected “leaders” could possess such simple common sense. Dream on.

The writer lives in Pawleys Island.
