Keep lies out of printed letters

On the Opinion page today you have again published guidelines for letters to be printed. Imagine my surprise when I read the ravings of Mr. Thorndyke printed right below.

Supposedly no letter with questionable or undocumented facts will be published. His letter is full of same.

This man is rabid in his hate for Democrats; his letter is so full of inaccuracies and outright lies that I can’t begin to list them all. Just one example is his claim that the Democratic Party took “several billion dollars a year from Social Security.”

I think the guidelines are a good idea. Now how about following them?
