Allowing gays in Boy Scouts just too dangerous

Re July 20 editorial, “Boy Scouts Head Wrong Way on Gays”

It is inconceivable to me that The Sun News, in all its wisdom, has chosen to back gays in the Boy Scouts.

The Boy Scouts is an organization of young boys, the purpose of which is to help develop them into God-loving, productive young men. These boys are very impressionistic and vulnerable. To condone allowing gays into the organization would send the wrong message to young boys. It would be very destructive to the purpose of the Boy Scouts.

It's one thing to be able to live and work side by side with homosexuals, it's another thing to pitch a tent and share sleeping quarters with one. The Catholic Church has spent millions of dollars defending and settling cases where priests have been charged with sexually assaulting young boys. The Boy Scouts would face the same problems.
