Guardian ad litem charity event helped, now volunteers needed

I would like to thank all those who participated in our charity golf tournament, Hitting it for Heroes, which was held at TPC of Myrtle Beach on July 14. The generosity of the 144 players, hole sponsors and gift donors helped us to provide funding for training of much-needed guardians ad litem for Horry County.

The guardian ad litem program is a volunteer program which provides assistance to children who are the victims of abuse and neglect in Horry County during family court proceedings and an advocate for those children throughout the system. We are in desperate need of volunteers for this worthy program to service the ever growing number of young victims.

Please consider volunteering your time as a guardian so that we can speak and act in the best interest of children. Thanks to our event, we now have the funds to train you! If you are interested, please contact Sam Hodges, county coordinator of the GAL program at 843-347-9750.
