Haley putting politics before people

Gov. Nikki Haley vetoed six health care items from the state budget. A billion dollars is spent each year on pet care. Aren’t our children worth at least this much? Public health is too important an issue to be reduced to political rhetoric.

She vetoed pay raises for teachers. South Carolina teachers are among the lowest paid in the country. She has no plans for funding the substandard schools in the low income tax areas. There is a need for technical high schools.

She vetoed funding for the South Carolina Arts Commission and the South Carolina Sea Grant Consortium. Dozens of people were put out of work.

She spent $160,000 of taxpayers’ money on a trip to Paris and Munich and $100,000 for a trip to London. She has made seven trips out of state to raise campaign funds.

Governor Haley’s campaign theme was creating jobs. The reality is that big businesses will not move to South Carolina because there are not enough skilled workers. Which brings us back to education.
