I am an N.C. resident who spends two weekends a month in Myrtle Beach and several weeks a year here. We hope to retire here in a few years. We love Myrtle Beach, but the one blot on the town and the state of South Carolina is allowing public smoking. Every time I come here, it is a shock.
North Carolina banned public smoking, and it is wonderful. No secondhand smoke, no butts on the grass or in parking lots, no horrible smell. I know several counties are considering a public smoking ban. I urge all S.C. state lawmakers to follow suit and ban public smoking for the beautification of the state, as well as the health of its citizens.
