FDR once stated, “Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely.” In this day of relentless TV sound bites, slick brochures and open hunting season on Internet comment boards, it is difficult to sift through all the dross to obtain reliable information, but we must choose wisely. Find out the facts and ignore the glittering generalities of the campaign ads.
Rarely has the wise choice between candidates been so clear. Tom Rice grew up here and became a successful accountant/attorney; ran a small business and raised a family. For Tom, politics is a calling, not a career. He is smart, straightforward, and dignified. Andre Bauer is a career politician who appears to move his residence based on electoral races (Lexington to Newberry to Richland to Greenville to Myrtle Beach). His behavior as lieutenant governor could hardly be described as wise, and his devious ads which kicked off his runoff campaign continue his dishonorable behavior. Character counts. Vote for the wise candidate on June 26.
