Re June 3 letter by Lynn Harbold, “Foul mouths indicate less intelligence”
I would like to disagree with Ms. Harbold that “people of lower intelligence curse due to their limited vocabulary.” There are many titans in industry and politics that use excessive vulgar language, often reported in print. Intelligence does not eliminate cursing. I am an English major, and have an extensive knowledge and usage of the English language. My response when someone states my cursing is due to a limited intelligence is “if I must expound, I prognosticate what is expedient, and it is my prerogative to facilitate what dialectal vernacular I expiate beneficial”, i.e., I’ll cuss if I want to.
