A local politician running for the new 7th Congressional seat says in a commercial that he personally will balance the budget, eliminate debt and repeal the Patient Protection and Affordable Care law (aka Obamacare). If he can do all that as a freshman congressman, then he probably should be running for president.
I strongly suspect he will find what the class of freshmen congressmen elected in the tea party rebellion in 2010 have learned. That they should do what Speaker of the House John Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor says they will do or he will find himself in an office in the basement of the Congressional Office Building. All of these congressmen, Rep. Tim Scott (R-Charleston) included, were made to toe the party line and vote in lockstep with the other Republicans. To do otherwise is a huge political mistake.
