I live in North Carolina. I have owned a vacation home in Myrtle Beach for seven years. This was my first Memorial Day weekend in Myrtle Beach, and my last.
I have seen behavior this weekend I never thought possible in this day and age. I am ashamed to be a homeowner here. It’s like a lawless state. There are impromptu parties right in the middle of the street. There is no police presence at all. What few police cars you see completely ignore what is going on around them.
It angers me to consider all the taxes I have paid down here for the better part of a decade. I intend to put my property on the market next week and buy in Wrightsville Beach, where property owners are protected.
