In a democracy, we voters rely on a vibrant free press to keep us informed. So why has The Sun News and indeed all local media, been remiss in covering the U.S. Senate campaign of Green Party candidate Tom Clements? He is an exciting and well-qualified addition to the ballot. He has served in the Peace Corps, holds a masters degree in forestry, has worked against nuclear proliferation internationally, and currently serves as the public watchdog over the Savannah River nuclear waste site. His stands on the issues put the people of this state before any partisan or corporate agenda.
Tom Clements is the candidate South Carolinians have been looking for, and yet you have barely mentioned him, focusing instead on Alvin Greene's shenanigans, and Jim DeMint's lead in the polls, making light of DeMint's refusal to participate in a debate. There is a conspiracy of silence in the mainstream media concerning this Senate race, and it serves the status quo to the detriment of the people of this great state.
Let's not re-anoint Prince DeMint. In this economy he should have to re-apply for his job. And we the taxpaying, voting people need to know that there is a more qualified applicant, and it's not Alvin Greene.
