Group consistently helps needy

The Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach would like to thank the Sons of Italy Lodge #2662 for seven years of friendship and generous financial support. The Sons of Italy recently presented our organization with a check for $2,240, bringing the seven-year total support to over $30,000. Our success and growth over the years can be directly attributed to organizations that donate and also volunteer their time and energy to help improve the lives of others. The mission we hope to sustain for our community would not be possible without the continued generosity of the Sons of Italy.

The number of hungry that we feed daily is increasing. So far this year the Community Kitchen has served 47,000 meals to those in need. Realizing that people can be impoverished physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and culturally, as well as just from lack of money, our mission is to address these needs by providing not only food, but an environment of care, love, support and safety to those who come through our doors.

Thanks to everyone along the Grand Strand who helped make the seventh annual Sons of Italy Golf Tournament and Dinner a great success and to Don Pagani who organized the golf tournament. Again, we extend thanks from our staff, board members and constituents.

The writers are co-directors of the Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach.
