S.C. Environmental Law Project founder passes
One of the good guys is gone. Jimmy Chandler, who spent much of his 60 years protecting and improving the land we live on and who founded and led the S.C. Environmental Law Project, has died. For all South Carolina it is a big loss, which we all should shore up by supporting his colleagues at SCELP personally and financially. Donations can be mailed to SCELP at P.O. Box 1380, Pawleys Island, SC, 29585.

Congressional agency: Deficit to decrease over time
Re the article on the bill passed to save jobs for our teachers, Medicaid, cops and firefighters: This will help save many jobs in our trying economy.
Joe Wilson in this article said we can't continue to pile up debt that America clearly cannot afford. However, this same article states the Congressional Budget Office, which is a nonpartisan committee, found that the federal deficit will decrease by $1.4 billion over a decade. I don't understand why Joe doesn't think we can afford to get a decrease in our deficit.
