County chairman

Rice is responsive, well-suited to job

I have known Tom Rice for over 20 years. He helped my father, who had Alzheimer's, right away when another lawyer in Surfside Beach couldn't see him for three months. He is the first attorney I have found who promptly returns phone calls. He is also the first attorney I have met who didn't charge you for minor questions.

In these days of "Throw the bums out!" I cannot think of anyone better suited for county chairman. He is ethical, honest and fair; he even knows when his auto registration is due. If Tom Rice runs the County Council anything like his law firm we will be blessed.

Horry chairman

Barnard proves dedication in service

Howard Barnard is a true leader who has proven his dedication to Horry County. Through his past service as county councilman, director of missions at First Presbyterian Church, Rotary and of course his 28 years of service with the Air Force, he has shown his commitment to his community and to his fellow man. Howard has directed numerous mission trips to Mexico and New Orleans assisting needy families and Katrina victims. I have had the good fortune to have known Howard for the past ten years. We need more public servants like Howard who know the meaning of honor, duty, courage and faith. Our county will be well served by his leadership as our council chairman.
