Re: Oct. 15 letter from Jimmy. O. Jacobs, “Support plan to appoint Adjutant General to ensure military experience”
I suggest a “no” vote to the question that would allow the governor to appoint the state's Adjutant General. Mr. James places a fear of not electing qualified candidates, while admitting that the voters have already elected one, a two star major general that currently holds the position.
A “yes” vote could in turn allow for an unqualified candidate to be appointed.
Instead the question should be asking that the law be changed to allow only qualified candidates to run for the office. A “no” vote will keep this position out of the reign of a political system.

Return Tom Rice
to represent us in DC
Tom Rice is my congressman and I want Tom and his wife Wrenzie to stay that way. Our house and family will be voting for Tom (again) and we urge you to do the same. Tom is my friend. He is yours too. Before seeking elective office, Tom Rice was my lawyer and business advisor.
He is both an attorney and CPA. Tom's wife Wrenzie is an experienced business person with CCIM designation. They are a great team with successful achievements in business development and job creation. Both are down to earth, every day folks. Tom or Wrenzie will talk to you face to face, plain. No Washington-speak.
I know first hand that Tom Rice is a principled man who makes sound judgments. Most importantly, Tom Rice sticks to his word and values. When Tom says he is with you, you can count on it. He is a good church and community man. Tom and Wrenzie have raised their children right. We could have no better representation in Washington than Tom Rice.

Directions
Residents, leaders confuse
east, west with our roads
Reading the articles about the proposed traffic loops for the Atlantic Beach Bikefest has me wondering. Do any of the county and city officials really know what directions the roads go in their county?
Nationwide, I repeat, nationwide, all state and interstate roads, the even numbered routes are east and west. The odd numbered routes are north and south. I continually hear county and city officials along with local police and news people referring to U.S. 501 as east and west when in reality it runs north and south. I think a number of these individuals are lost and need some “direction.”

Vida Miller understands
needs of her constituents
Vida Miller recently called out Rep. Stephen Goldfinch for voting himself a $12,000 pay raise. Of course he claimed “there was no pay raise vote.”
Well, Gov. Nikki Haley took issue with his handling of this issue when she recently addressed business leaders in Charleston and called out Mr. Goldfinch by name as one who voted for the raise and then voted to override her veto of the raise. The Governor told the business leaders “you need to know who did this.”
He claims to deliver good constituent services, yet pulled the rug from under the funding of a station for Murrells Inlet-Garden City fire district.
Enough already. The voters have a choice. Vida Miller won't play games with your trust and she won't place her self interest in the way of doing the job for her constituents.
