FACT: Some may steer their children into private schools assuming they’ll have more qualified teachers. Maybe not: 52 percent of the nation’s 3.3 million public school teachers have a masters’ degree or better – compared with 38 percent of teachers at private schools.
Parents who think a better-educated teacher means better-performing students are right, though. Young students whose teachers hold advanced degrees produce better raw math scores.
