Hurricane Ian ripped off a major chunk of the Pawleys Island Pier as the catastrophic storm made landfall in nearby Georgetown.

“The end of the Pawleys Island pier has collapsed & is floating south,” the Pawleys Island Police Department tweeted Friday afternoon.

The pier was one of four to suffer a partial collapse as of 4 p.m. Friday. The other three piers were the 2nd Avenue Pier in Myrtle Beach, the Apache Pier in Arcadian Shores and the Cherry Grove Pier in North Myrtle Beach.

Twitter user Jerry Lieberman posted this video of debris from the pier.
