A heat advisory is in effect for Horry County according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C. The advisory is set for 12 to 6 p.m. Friday. Heat indexes are expected to reach 106 degrees in some areas due to high temperatures and humidity. Residents are warned to take breaks from the heat and be on the lookout for heat-related illnesses.
