Cloudy skies and storms are expected today in the Myrtle Beach area with a high temperature of 94 degrees and a heat index of 110 degrees, according to AccuWeather. Partly cloudy skies are expected overnight with a low of 80. Tomorrow's forecast calls for partly sunny skies and 96 degrees.
A heat advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C. from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday for inland and coastal areas of the Carolinas. Advisory areas include: Bladen, N.C., Brunswick, N.C., Columbus, N.C., New Hanover, N.C., Pender, N.C., Robeson, N.C., Darlington, Dillion, Florence, Marion, Horry, and Georgetown.
The weather service warns that residents should take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses by taking breaks from the heat in the shade and air conditioning, and wearing light, loose-fitting clothing.
