Very warm with a mix of partly cloudy skies and sun is expected today in the Myrtle Beach area with a high temperature of 95 degrees, but will feel more like 105 with the heat index, according to AccuWeather. There is a slight chance for a thunderstorm. Humid and partly cloudy skies are expected overnight with a low of 79. Tomorrow's forecast calls for storms and 94 degrees.
A heat adivory has been issued by the Natanional Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C. and is effect for southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina, including Horry and Georgetown counties. The advisory is issued from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, and heat index values could reach 105 to 107 in some areas, according to the weather service.
Officials with the weather service warn to be on the lookout for heat-related illnesses and to take precautions.
