Partly sunny skies and very warm temperatures are expected today in the Myrtle Beach area with a high temperature of 93 degrees, according to AccuWeather. Partly cloudy skies are expected overnight with a low of 76. Tomorrow's forecast calls for a mix of sun and clouds and 94 degrees.

The first heat wave of the summer is expected along the Grand Strand this weekend as temperatures and humidity sore. The National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C. warned that heat index values could possibly be between 98 to 102 for Saturday and Sunday, except on the beaches where temperatures will be a few degrees cooler. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible this weekend.

The weather service warns not to leave animals or children alone in cars during extreme heat. Officials also suggest taking breaks from the heat in the shade, wearing light clothing, and drinking plenty of fluids.
