A house fire on the 4300 block of Clairton Street threatened an additional structure before it was brought under control Tuesday night.
The call came into the Columbia Fire Department around 640pm. When firefighters arrived on scene off Mountain Drive and Pineneedle Road, the one-story single family home was fully engulfed in flames.
What caused the blaze, which displaced 7 people, is still under investigation, fire department spokesman Capt. Brick Lewis said. The damage is estimated at $65,000.
The residents of the home are being assisted by the American Red Cross, Lewis said.
