Two people were injured during an armed robbery at a Myrtle Beach gas station after the alleged robber fled in his vehicle, according to a Myrtle Beach Police report.

Davon Stephens, 19, of Loris, was charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon and hit and run on Aug. 14, 2024, after an incident that occurred in July.

Stephens is accused of taking two women’s bags as he followed them out of the Circle K at 3791 Oleander Drive on July 22, 2024, according to a police report.

One of the victims told police that she went into the store to get a fountain drink and when the offender came into the store, he followed behind her. The 18-year-old told police that she was paying for her drink and the suspect must have seen the money she had.

The second victim, a 60-year-old woman, told police that Stephens followed them out of the store and snatched the bag off her back, the report said.

The victims stated they then chased the man, who ran to his vehicle. When the man was running to his vehicle, he pointed a black handgun at the victims, the report said.

The man then jumped into his vehicle and fled the scene.

The victims attempted to grab and hold onto the vehicle as it drove away, causing them to fall to the ground. Both victims were injured, the report said.

The bags contained more than $7,000 in cash, credit cards, Georgia driver licenses, two iPhones and car keys, the report said.

Stephens remains in the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
