Myrtle Beach police investigating shooting near 65th Avenue North, 1 dead

One person died in a reported shooting in Myrtle Beach.

Around 5:15 p.m., officers went to the 500 block of 65th Avenue North to investigate the shooting. Myrtle Beach police Cpl. Thomas Vest initially said the victim had “serious injuries.”

Around 7 p.m., Vest confirmed the victim died. The Horry County Coroner’s Office has not identified the person killed.

The shooting was possibly accidental, according to police radio traffic. Vest said the scene is secure and there is no threat to the community.
