A Myrtle Beach man, escaping the noise of his mother-in-law’s house, is facing several charges after police found him in a car parked behind an abandoned motel around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, according to a police report.
Forty-one-year-old Shawn Lee Shadley told police he was “waiting for the sun to come up” and had parked behind the empty motel because “it was ‘quieter’ than his mother-in-law’s house.”
Shadley was detained after Myrtle Beach police say officers found a half-full container of beer in the car.
In a search, during Shadley’s arrest, police say they found a “bandana holding a spoon with cotton, three hypodermic needles and four Q-tips.” A crack rock and marijuana were discovered in an empty cigarette pack, according to a police report.
In a search of the vehicle, police reported finding methamphetamine and two opioid pain pills in the mix of peppermints in an Altoids tin. A black smoking pipe was pulled from the car’s center console, the report stated.
Shadley was charged with trespassing, drinking in public, possessing marijuana, possessing meth, possessing crack, possessing a schedule II controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia.
