One person was evacuated and unharmed after flames engulfed the backside of a three-story, six unit condo building in an early morning fire in North Myrtle Beach, and the cause has not been determined yet, according to Pat Dowling, spokesman for the city of North Myrtle Beach.

The fire shut down parts of North Ocean Boulevard and Spring Street between 20th Avenue North and 22nd Avenue North while crews work to put out the blaze, according to Lt. Greg Suggs with North Myrtle Beach Fire Rescue.

The fire began about 5:15 a.m. at Mid Strand Condominiums at 2002 N. Ocean Blvd., and rescue crews are still on the scene. Horry County Fire Rescue is assisting North Myrtle Beach firefighters with the blaze.

The fire caused heavy damage, and the person who was evacuated has a dog that has not been found yet, Dowling said.
