A woman reported to Myrtle Beach police that her boyfriend choked her and punched her in the head when she tried to end the relationship.
Officers were called about 3 a.m. Wednesday to a motel at 401 Seventh Avenue N. where a 35-year-old woman reported the incident, according to a police report.
The victim told police that her boyfriend of six months hit her, choked her, and punched her in the head because he was angry with her for telling him she wanted to end the relationship, authorities said.
She told officers her boyfriend was intoxicated during the altercation and that she was tired of his drinking and abuse.
Police said they noticed red marks around her neck and bruises on her arms, which were photographed and recorded as evidence. Officers intend to serve an arrest warrant in connection with criminal domestic violence charges.
No arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.
