A Myrtle Beach teen pleaded guilty to reckless homicide and felony driving under the influence in connection with a fatal crash in April in Socastee, according to court records.
Austin Blake Leroy, 18, of Myrtle Beach pleaded guilty to the charges Wednesday and was sentenced under the Youthful Offender Act by Circuit Court Judge Larry Hyman.
Leroy was ordered to be held not to exceed five years on each charge, and the sentences will run concurrently, according to court records. Leroy’s license was suspended and he must pay court costs and a $5,000 fine.
The crash occurred about 3 a.m. April 13 at Dick Pond Road and Strand Drive in the Myrtle Beach area, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. The driver of a Volkswagen was killed while waiting in the median of Dick Pond Road to make a left turn onto Strand Drive.

Leroy was driving a pickup truck on Dick Pond Road and struck the Volkswagen, police said. Leroy was taken into custody April 18 and release the next day on $30,620 bail, according to records at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
