Young men and women going door-to-door in area neighborhoods claiming to be Coastal Carolina University students are not affiliated with the university, officials said in a news release Monday.
The solicitors say they are raising money for study abroad trips. But it is against university policy for students to do door-to-door fundraising. Further, study-abroad programs are not funding through these types of sales, according to CCU’s Office of International Programs and Services.
School officials urge residents not to give cash or checks to individuals if there is any doubt about their credentials.
