Myrtle Beach police charged two Virginia men after learning they fought and a woman was assaulted on the street near Kings Highway and Ninth Avenue North, according to a police report.
Kenneth Wayne Ellis, 43, of Hopewell, Va., and James Joseph Heath, 46, of Richmond, Va., were each charged with third-degree assault and battery and public intoxication after officers were called just before midnight Thursday.
Both men remained at the Myrtle Beach Jail pending a bond hearing on the assault charge. Bond was set at $158 cash on the intoxication charge for them.
A 44-year-old woman told police she and Heath got into an argument and he punched her in the face and grabbed her by her hair before she went unconscious, according to the report. The woman said Heath accused her of stealing his wallet.

The men and woman had been drinking and police noted they were intoxicated.
Ellis told police he saw Heath assault the woman, so he ran to her and got physical with Heath, according to the report. Heath told police he was assaulted by Ellis and wanted him arrested.
The men were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment to minor injuries before they were taken to jail, according to the report. The woman, who suffered a broken nose and had several cuts on her head, was also treated at the hospital.
