North Carolina man identified as victim of Myrtle Beach shooting

A N.C. man was identified as the victim who was found shot to death in his car Monday morning in a Myrtle Beach parking lot, according to authorities.

Alton Antonio Daniels, 34, of Shallotte, N.C., was identified as the victim in the shooting, said Tamara Willard, Horry County’s Chief Deputy Coroner.

Myrtle Beach police officers were called at 8:50 a.m. Monday to Ninth Avenue South and Yaupon Drive to an overflow parking lot for a nearby Days Inn Hotel after someone saw Daniels in the vehicle, Capt. David Knipes said.

He was partially sitting inside a black Mazda 6 and had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, Knipes said.

Police on Monday released surveillance photos of two men and a woman who may have a connection to the homicide victim for questioning related to the incident. Knipes said Tuesday about 3:50 p.m. that the three had been found and were speaking to police.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information can call Myrtle Beach police at 918-1382.
