Myrtle Beach police charge couple with attempted murder, carjacking

A Longs woman and a Myrtle Beach man face charges in connection with a carjacking and shooting that occurred Monday in the city, according to arrest reports.

Myrtle Beach police said Ancel Ramon Harris, 18, of Myrtle Beach and Krystal Elaine Cox, 26, of Longs are charged with carjacking and attempted murder, according to arrest reports. Harris also is charged with strong armed robbery.

Bond was set at $550,000 for Harris and Cox, according to authorities.

The two were taken into custody after a man reported he was robbed at gunpoint, shot at and had his vehicle stolen when he gave the couple, who he called acquaintances, a ride to 1410 King St., in the city about 10:45 a.m. Monday, Capt. David Knipes said. King Street is located off 21st Avenue North.

Harris and Cox were arrested about 12:15 p.m. Monday in Atlantic Beach.

The victim told police the couple pulled him from the car and forced him to go into a nearby wooded area, according to a release from Lt. Richard Shoe. As the victim was walking into the wooded area, the suspects shot at him.

The victim was not hurt, Knipes said.

The victim said the suspects took personal items from his vehicle and took his car, Shoe said.

About 12:15 p.m., police were able to track the vehicle to 30th Avenue South in Atlantic Beach and Horry County police took the suspect into custody, authorities said.

Through an investigation, police learned the suspects were involved in a strong armed robbery of the General Store at 210 S. Ocean Blvd., on Thursday, Shoe said.

In that incident, a man and woman went into the store at 3 p.m. Thursday and waited for other customers to leave until they were alone with the clerk, police said.

The clerk told police that the woman attempted to purchase a drink and when the clerk opened the cash register the man jumped behind the counter, pushed him into the wall and punched him several times, according to the report. The clerk said the woman took the cash register drawer and the couple ran out of the store.

More details will be posted as they become available.
