Myrtle Beach shooting, carjacking suspect in custody in Atlantic Beach

A man suspected of carjacking and shooting at a victim in Myrtle Beach was taken into custody at 12:15 p.m. Monday in Atlantic Beach, according to authorities.

Myrtle Beach police were called to King Street, which is located off 21st Avenue North, about 11 a.m. for the incident, Capt. David Knipes said. The victim told police he gave an acquaintance a ride to the location where the suspect pulled out a gun, robbed the victim, took his vehicle and shot at him.

The victim was not hurt in the incident, Knipes said.

About 12:15 p.m., police were able to track the vehicle to a location in Atlantic Beach and took the suspect into custody, Knipes said. Additional details about the incident, the victim and the suspect were not immediately available.
