Horry County police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night outside of Conway, Sgt. Robert Kegler said.

Officers were called about 9:45 p.m. Thursday to the 3600 block of U.S. 701 South for a shooting and found one man had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, Kegler said. The victim was taken by EMS to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time after his arrival.

Herbert Deas Jr., 44, of Georgetown, but was living in Conway, died from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick said.

Detectives are investigating the shooting and no arrests have been made as of 10 a.m. Friday, Kegler said.
