A Nichols man was ordered to serve four years in prison after he pleaded guilty in the shooting death of his girlfriend at the home they shared in Green Sea, according to court documents.
Sherman Deandre Evans, 31, pleaded guilty Wednesday to involuntary manslaughter in the Dec. 10, 2010 shooting death of 38-year-old Tara Gore, according to court records. Circuit Court Judge Benjamin Culbertson sentenced Evans to four years in prison, gave him credit for the time he had previously served and ordered him to pay court costs.
Gore was killed by a single gunshot wound, Horry County Coroner Robert Edge said at the time of her death.
Authorities were called about 2 a.m. Dec. 10, 2010, to a home on Long Branch Swamp Road in Green Sea for a possible shooting. When officers arrived they found Gore dead and Evans at the house.
Police said Evans was Gore's live-in boyfriend, but did not give any information on the circumstances that led to the shooting.
