Myrtle Beach man accused of peddling pot near city park

A Myrtle Beach man reportedly hiding from police in between alleged drug deals Tuesday night on Collins Street was arrested when police found bags of marijuana in his car.

Myrtle Beach police “responded to a report of a black male with long hair walking up and down Collins Street selling narcotics” around 8 p.m., according to a police report. A caller advised police that every time an officer passed by the suspect “would hide behind a silver car that was parked up against the building.”

Officers found 25-year-old James Edward White III behind the car when they arrived and noticed White’s identification inside the vehicle, according to the report. Also inside the vehicle, police say they seized a plastic bag with “eight individually packaged baggies of a green leafy substance” that weighed 11.4 grams and field-tested positive for marijuana, a mason jar containing “marijuana shake,” a scale and a “box of baggies.”

White was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
