A 24-year-old woman, who police said is a known heroin and crack user, was arrested along South Ocean Boulevard in connection with drug charges Thursday night while authorities were investigating drug sales at a motel, according to a police report.
Michelle Renee Rowan is charged with possession of a cocaine base and loitering, the report states.
She was arrested while police, including Myrtle Beach Street Crimes officer and 15th Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit agents, were investigating drug sales at a motel on the 1700 block of South Ocean Boulevard after receiving a complaint.
Authorities said they saw the suspect enter a motel room and stay only a short time. An officer said he saw her clutching something in her hand then place it in her pocket.
Police approached her on the 1900 block of South Ocean Boulevard and questioned her. She then began to act nervous, the report states.
Officers asked her about what she had in her pocket, and she told them it was just trash. Police arrested her in connection with loitering, and stated “she is a known heroin and crack user,” according to the report.
Authorities said they found a white, rock-like substance in her pocket, that weighed .3 grams, and field tested positive for the presence of cocaine, police said.
Rowan remained at the Myrtle Beach Jail Friday morning, online jail records showed.
