A man attempted to rob a Circle K in Little River on Sunday, police say, but a clerk in the store was able to convince him to leave without incident.
Horry County Police responded to the shop at 13 E. Hwy. 90, where the night clerk told an officer that a small, white man approached the counter around 1 a.m. The man pulled a knife from his pocket, and asked the attendant to give him money from the cash register.
But, a police report reads, “The clerk unfazed by the assailant’s efforts denied the suspect the money and told him to leave the store. Once the suspect realized that his efforts were going nowhere, he then apologized to the clerk and folded his knife, placing it in his pocket before exiting the store.”
This account was confirmed by security footage in the store, the report said.
Police said the suspect in the attempted robbery was a passenger in a Chevrolet Suburban and may have been headed southbound into North Myrtle Beach. Security footage showed a man about 5-foot-9, possibly in his early 30s, according to the report.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
