A man was killed by a bullet that ripped through a Conway-area home late Tuesday night after a multiple gunshots sprayed the house.
The shooting happened on Beau Street in Conway about midnight, according to Krystal Dotson, Horry County police spokeswoman, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting death as of Wednesday morning.
When Horry County officers arrived to the scene they found several family members standing outside the home “distraught, crying, and yelling” about their father being shot, according to a police report.
Police discovered one 48-year-old man had been struck by a bullet that came through the front of the home, and had a gunshot wound, but the censored report does not state where on his body the man was injured.
When officers entered the home they met a 44-year-old woman crying in a bedroom. Police then found the wounded man in the arms of a 19-year-old man. The 19-year-old was asked to leave, and authorities said the victim was seen laying in the floor with blood pouring from the wound.
EMS was called to the scene and an Horry County coroner placed on stand by, the report says. When EMS arrived, the victim was pronounced dead. More officers then came to the home, controlled the crowd there, and started investigating.
A 44-year-old woman, 19-year-old man, 8-year-old boy, 17-year-old male, 23-year-old woman, and 22-year-old woman were at the home when the shooting occurred. While all listed as victims in the police report, none of them suffered injuries during the incident, according to Dotson.
Witnesses gave police details about the suspect’s vehicle, but no one is in custody, Dotson said.
The Horry County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name at a later time.
