Men, showing up to work on an AT&T tower, found tire tracks leading to a crime scene
A man told police that he and his crew arrived to work on an AT&T tower off of U.S. 501 in Conway Wednesday morning and found tire tracks leading to a crime scene.
The man said they noticed that a wire had been cut from the top of a gate and part of a fence used to protect their work site and that a locked gate at the end of the road, leading to the site, was missing a lock.
More items appeared to be missing inside the work site, according to an incident report. The man told police he was missing a large fan, a heat gun, a propane torch and other miscellaneous supplies.
Several hundred feet of wire, dropped off for them to install, was also missing along with two ladders and a box of combination locks, the report stated.
The man told police they observed tire tracks leading into the site from U.S. 501 and Eagle Road and heading back out.
“Due to the rain the tire tracks were washed away before I could see them,” Officer Matthew Tindall noted in his report. Police also found it difficult, in the wet conditions, to check for prints.
Without leads to follow up on, the case was administratively closed, according to the report.
