Area students graduate, earn honors

▪ Alex Roberts of Myrtle Beach and Samuel Hall of Conway were among the 126 student-athletes from Newberry College who were named to the South Atlantic Conference’s 2014-15 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

▪ Patricia Brown of Andrews earned a B.S. in Human Services from Springfield College, Springfield, Mass., for studies completed in 2015.

▪ Shanice Lawrence was named to the spring 2015 Dean’s List at American International College, Springfield, Mass.

▪ The following area cadets were presented with The Citadel’s Gold Stars, awarded each semester for outstanding academic achievement, for earning a grade point ratio of 3.7 or higher during spring 2014-15: Kyle Jones of Andrews; George Graham and William Mills, both of Conway; Matthew Scalise of Surfside Beach; Charles Holt, Wilson Wicker, Jennifer Burch and Dustin Smith, all of Myrtle Beach; Lloyd Powers of Loris; and Stephen Ikalowych of Oak Island, N.C.

▪ The following Presbyterian College students earned Provost’s List honors for spring 2014-15: freshman Jonathan Paul Gardner of Aynor; Rachel Katherine Ward of Whiteville, N.C., who graduated with an English degree; sophomore Jesse James Glasgow IV and senior Mia Nicole Hutchinson, both of Conway; Helen Elizabeth Wilkins of Georgetown, who graduated with a religion-Christian education degree; freshman Tanner Tyler Chock of Loris; freshman Dinah Davis Johnson and sophomore Mason Gabriel Lewis, both of Myrtle Beach; senior Elizabeth Ashley Holley of Nichols; and sophomore Darcy Noelle Nirenstein of North Myrtle Beach.

▪ McKenzie Louise Long of Conway and Zachary D. Gore of Myrtle Beach were named to the Dean’s List at the College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, Va., for spring 2015.

▪ Ryan Lowell of Georgetown graduated from Bismarck State College, Bismarck, N.D., with an A.A.S. in Electrical Transmission Systems Technology May 15.

▪ Karissa O’Keefe-Young of Myrtle Beach earned a Juris Doctor from Mercer University, Macon, Ga., during the Walter F. George School of Law spring commencement.

▪ Bark Barnes of Pawleys Island earned a Master of Laws from Mercer University, Macon, Ga., during the Walter F. George School of Law spring commencement.

▪ Cassandra Mae Painter of North Myrtle Beach graduated from Western New England University, Springfield, Mass., with a Master of Laws in Estate Planning and Elder Law May 16.

▪ Michelle Candace Martire was named to the Dean’s List for spring 2015 at Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Martire of Conway.
